One Fine Day: Papiput Yarn Dyeing Workshop at Jia

  • Blog

On August 4, 2023, a group of passionate yarn enthusiasts gathered at Jia by OCK in Canggu, Bali, for a day filled with creativity and inspiration. As organizers of the yarn-dyeing and knitting workshops, we were thrilled to introduce our unique approach to dyeing yarn.

The energy in the room was palpable as participants embraced the opportunity to explore this new experience. It was an exhilarating moment for us as well, as we had the privilege of sharing our distinct methods and secrets with the eager participants. And, most of all, it was our first time teaching a yarn dyeing workshop!

Welcome!
It’s not that hard. I promise!

During the workshops, we showcased two of our carefully honed techniques, allowing participants to unleash their creativity and bring their vision to life on each skein of yarn. The vibrant colors and intricate color combinations that emerged were a testament to their newfound skills and dedication.

However, it soon became evident that one skein was simply not enough for this captivating journey. The participants were hungry for more, their hunger for knowledge and creativity growing with each passing moment.

That green!
A very unique colorway!

As we observed the participants immerse themselves in the art of dyeing, laughter, and excitement filled the air. Friendships were formed, and the workshop space became an incubator for ideas and inspiration. Our collective enthusiasm and passion for yarn dyeing nurtured an atmosphere of camaraderie and support.

By the end of the day, the participants had not only expanded their skill set but also gained a deeper appreciation for the artistry behind yarn dyeing. Each skein they created was a testament to their growth and determination, marking the beginning of a colorful and fulfilling journey, and probably motivated them to start their own hand-dyed yarn business.

Reflecting on this incredible experience, we are grateful for the opportunity to have shared our knowledge and techniques with such a vibrant group. We are confident that they will continue to embrace this newfound passion and create remarkable works of art. We look forward to witnessing the countless skeins of yarn that will bring joy and warmth to the world, all inspired by this unforgettable day in Canggu, Bali.

Should we do it in other cities too?

Special thanks to Pak Budiman and Jia crews. All photos are Jia’s.
